Cross Country: Scottsburg Teams Battle Strong at 5K Meet

The Scottsburg cross country teams turned in solid performances this past weekend as both the Warriors and Warriorettes competed against a strong field of area schools in the 5000-meter races. Boys Race Junior Kameron Reed led the way for the Warriors with a strong run, finishing third overall in 19:24. Sophomore Gavin Curley also cracked the top ten with a 20:44 finish, helping pace the boys’ team. Scottsburg had several other strong performances, with multiple runners continuing to show steady improvement as the postseason approaches. The team effort highlighted the Warriors’ depth and work ethic in a competitive field that saw Henryville’s Josiah Spicer (18:08) claim the individual win and Borden edge out New Washington for the team title. Girls Race The Warriorettes placed second as a team with 29 points, finishing just three points behind champion Borden (26). Senior Brooklyn Moon ran a determined race, placing fifth overall in 25:49, while junior Addison Elliott (27:11) and senior Briley Bary (27:26) packed tightly together for key points. Rounding out the scoring for Scottsburg were junior Addison Eldridge (29:16) and sophomore Sofie Riley (32:35), who helped secure the runner-up finish. Team Results Girls: 1. Borden 26, 2. Shawe Memorial 63 Both teams continue to build momentum as they compete in the Little 4 XC meet this evening, with sectional competition quickly approaching.
