The Scottsburg Warriors put together a complete performance Friday night, shutting out Silver Creek 42-0 at Warrior Field. The win improved Scottsburg’s record in dominant fashion as both the offense and defense shined under the lights. Senior quarterback Nathan Byrd turned in a nearly flawless outing, completing 15 of 17 passes for 204 yards and 4 touchdowns. His accuracy and command of the offense kept Silver Creek on their heels all evening. On the ground, senior Landon Shuck powered the rushing attack with 145 yards on 20 carries, including a 31-yard score. Byrd also added 34 yards rushing. Byrd spread the ball around to his receivers, with senior Garrett Boling leading the way—hauling in 5 catches for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns. Fellow seniors Matthew Wickey and Shuck each pulled in a touchdown reception, while Wickey finished with 48 yards receiving. The defense was equally impressive, limiting Silver Creek to minimal production and forcing turnovers that set the tone. Senior Kameron Reed intercepted two passes and returned them for a total of 80 yards, while senior Rikelme Pinto-Herrera added two interceptions of his own, taking one back 51 yards. Boling anchored the tackling effort with 10 stops, including 2 tackles for loss, while senior Jacob June also notched 2 tackles for loss. Special teams played their part as well. Senior kicker Tucker Doriot was steady, hitting a field goal and 3 extra points for 6 points on the night. Junior Garrett Boling also booted a 48-yard punt to flip field position when needed. By the end of the night, the Warriors racked up 238 total yards from Byrd alone (204 passing, 34 rushing), 157 all-purpose yards from Shuck, and a defensive effort that refused to let Silver Creek find the scoreboard. Scottsburg will look to carry this momentum into next week as they continue their push through the season.
