Pearcy’s Runner-Up Finish Highlights Scottsburg at Rick Weinheimer Invitational

Scottsburg High School and Scottsburg Middle School competed against a large field of runners Saturday at the Rick Weinheimer Cross Country Invitational hosted by Columbus North. Mattie Pearcy recorded Scottsburg’s top finish of the day, placing second in the middle school girls’ race. Both high school teams also earned team finishes against a deep field of programs from across Indiana. ## Middle School Girls Pearcy led the Scottsburg Middle School girls with an outstanding runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter race. The eighth grader completed the course in 11:28.4, finishing second among 252 runners. Whitley Horn placed 71st in 14:16.0, followed by Olivia Canada in 74th at 14:20.3 and Eloise Whitmore in 95th at 14:51.3. Joanna Bales completed Scottsburg’s scoring five, placing 140th in 16:04.7. Emma Bales finished 171st in 17:08.4, Milly Williams placed 190th in 17:46.5 and Avery Campbell finished 205th in 18:25.9. Scottsburg placed 11th among 23 scoring teams with 335 points and an average time of 14:12. ## Middle School Boys Jase DePriest paced the Scottsburg Middle School boys, placing 29th among 370 runners with a time of 11:19.2 in the 3,000-meter race. Kellan Weddington placed 123rd in 12:45.8, Wyatt English finished 142nd in 12:56.2 and Ryder Napier placed 151st in 13:05.7. Garrick Wade completed the Warriors’ scoring lineup, placing 160th in 13:16.9. Also competing for Scottsburg were Jonah Foster, 168th in 13:25.2; Ryker Eldridge, 171st in 13:27.5; Owen Sinnock, 224th in 14:19.9; Cruise English, 235th in 14:34.9; Caleb Mays, 255th in 15:06.5; Caden Vanwinkle, 261st in 15:17.8; Carsen Vanwinkle, 292nd in 16:08.4; and Tanner Middleton, 346th in 19:37.9. The Warriors placed 18th out of 28 scoring teams with 480 points and an average time of 12:40. ## High School Boys Scottsburg finished 11th in the high school boys’ team standings with 263 points. The Warriors’ five scoring positions were 40th, 49th, 51st, 55th and 68th. Senior Kameron Reed led the Warriors with a 44th-place overall finish in 18:41.7. Junior Gavin Curley finished 54th in 18:59.5, followed closely by freshmen Asher Horton in 56th at 19:00.9 and Caleb Cox in 60th at 19:09.2. Caleb Sales completed Scottsburg’s scoring five, placing 74th in 19:39.1. Carter Howell finished 109th in 21:56.8, while Eli Combs placed 121st in 22:41.5. Jaxon Sayers and Ben Hough represented Scottsburg in the boys’ reserve race. The Warriorettes’ top five recorded a combined time of 2:11:02, an average of 26:13 and a spread of 3:14. Sophomore Presley Buckel led Scottsburg, placing 213th in 25:05.6. Junior Sofie Riley followed in 230th with a time of 25:35.6. Seniors Providence Vaughn and Addison Eldridge finished back-to-back. Vaughn placed 242nd in 25:58.2, while Eldridge was 243rd in 26:02.5. Junior Georgia McNeely completed the scoring lineup, placing 273rd in 28:19.5.
