Scottsburg Boys Finish Runner-Up, Girls Place Fifth at Salem Invitational Scottsburg’s boys and girls cross country teams turned in strong performances Saturday morning at the 18th Annual Salem Invitational at Salem High School, highlighted by a runner-up finish from the Warriors. The Scottsburg boys placed five runners among the top 25 finishers and scored 71 points, finishing just five points behind team champion Springs Valley. The Warriorettes recorded 96 points to finish fifth in the girls competition. Warriors Place Second Senior Kameron Reed led the Warriors across the finish line, placing eighth overall with a time of 19:04.04. Gavin Curley followed with a 15th-place finish in 19:22.85, while Caleb Salas placed 20th in 19:48.65. Freshmen Asher Horton and Caleb Cox completed Scottsburg’s scoring five, finishing 21st and 25th, respectively. Horton recorded a time of 20:21.73, with Cox close behind in 20:33.94. Providence Vaughn placed 34th in 27:50.84, and Georgia McNeely completed the Warriorettes’ scoring five by finishing 42nd in 30:04.14.
