Scottsburg Cross Country Teams Turn In Strong Performances at Warpath Invitational

The Scottsburg High School boys and girls cross country teams competed against a talented field Saturday at Borden’s Warpath Invitational, with both Warrior squads earning top-five team finishes. The Scottsburg boys placed fifth with 111 points and an average time of 19:44. Senior Kameron Reed led the Warriors, finishing 15th overall in 18:53.11. Freshman Asher Horton followed with a 24th-place finish in 19:41.79. Sophomore Caleb Salas and junior Gavin Curley crossed the line just seconds apart, placing 27th and 28th, respectively. Freshman Caleb Cox completed Scottsburg’s scoring five by finishing 34th in 20:15.69. Only 34 seconds separated the Warriors’ second through fifth runners, helping Scottsburg secure its top-five team finish. Corydon Central won the boys team championship with 43 points. Silver Creek finished second with 62 points, followed by Austin with 63 and South Central with 80. The Warriorettes won a team-score tiebreaker over Austin, which also finished with 111 points. Junior Sofie Riley paced Scottsburg with a 23rd-place finish and a time of 25:28.63. Sophomore Presley Buckel was the Warriorettes’ second finisher, taking 27th in 26:20.02, while senior Addison Eldridge placed 33rd in 27:43.72. Senior Providence Vaughn finished 41st, and freshman Geneva Bennett completed Scottsburg’s scoring five in 48th place. Junior Georgia McNeely crossed the finish line alongside Bennett with the same time of 33:55.03 and served as the Warriorettes’ sixth runner. Silver Creek captured the girls team title with 30 points. Corydon Central placed second with 36 points, and South Central finished third with 84.
