Scottsburg Girls Track and Field competed Tuesday night at the IHSAA Sectional hosted by Madison Consolidated High School, finishing eighth overall in the final team standings with 42 points in a competitive 12-team field. Madison Consolidated captured the sectional championship with 121 points, followed by Silver Creek with 107 and Charlestown with 82. The Warriorettes were led by a pair of regional qualifiers in the field events as Scottsburg continued its strong postseason tradition. Senior Taylor Busick earned a runner-up finish in the long jump, clearing 15 feet, 8 inches to automatically qualify for the IHSAA Regional. Busick also contributed to Scottsburg’s fourth-place 4x100-meter relay team and added points with a strong overall night for the Warriorettes. Freshman Anissah Payne-Eldridge also punched her ticket to regional competition with a second-place finish in the pole vault after clearing 9 feet, 6 inches. Payne-Eldridge added an eighth-place finish in the 100-meter dash in 13.69 seconds and helped the 4x100 relay squad score valuable team points. Freshman Kylee Miles narrowly missed advancing in multiple events but still had an impressive sectional performance. Miles finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.70 seconds, fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 53.38 seconds, and fourth in the high jump after clearing 5 feet. Scottsburg’s 4x100-meter relay team of Addison Eldridge, Sofie Riley, Payne-Eldridge, and Busick placed fourth overall with a time of 53.35 seconds. Additional performances for the Warriorettes included Arya Stillions placing 11th in the 800 meters with a time of 3:00.39, while Providence Vaughn competed in both the 1600 and 3200-meter runs. In the throwing events, Brynley Culley placed ninth in discus with a throw of 81 feet, 7 inches and also competed in the shot put.
