Warrior Track & Field Competes at MSC

Scottsburg’s boys track and field team competed Thursday night at the Mid-Southern Conference Championships at Brownstown Central High School, finishing sixth in the final team standings with 20 points against a strong conference field. Silver Creek claimed the team title with 150 points, followed by Corydon Central (125) and host Brownstown Central (112). The Warriors were led by strong distance performances from junior Kameron Reed and sophomore Gavin Curley. Reed earned a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.69, while Curley followed closely behind in ninth at 2:17.33. In the 1600-meter run, Curley crossed the line in 10th place with a time of 4:57.73, narrowly edging Reed, who finished 11th in 4:57.77. Reed also scored valuable points in the field events, placing fifth in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 1.5 inches. Curley added another top-five finish for Scottsburg in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 6 inches to take fifth place. In the throws, senior Josh Telles turned in a strong performance in the shot put, placing eighth with a toss of 37 feet, 7 inches. Clyde Cooper led the Warriors in the discus, finishing ninth with a throw of 100 feet, 7 inches. Scottsburg also picked up points in the pole vault as sophomore Myles Ridge cleared 9 feet, 6 inches to finish tied for ninth. Teammate Luke Hamilton added a clearance of 8 feet, 6 inches. On the track, Scottsburg’s 4x400-meter relay team placed fifth with a time of 3:51.93, while the Warriors’ 4x100-meter relay squad finished sixth in 48.76. Additional performances for Scottsburg included Myles Ridge running 12.01 in the 100-meter preliminaries, Max Spellman clocking 25.57 in the 200-meter prelims, and Eli Ault posting times of 25.64 in the 200 and 1:03.38 in the 400-meter dash.
