Scottsburg competed in a talented field Tuesday night at the Mid-Southern Conference Girls Track and Field Championships held at Silver Creek High School, finishing seventh overall with 37 points. Corydon Central captured the team title with 172 points, followed by Silver Creek (100) and Charlestown (99). The Warriorettes were led by senior Taylor Busick, who claimed the Mid-Southern Conference championship in the 100-meter hurdles with a winning time of 16.45 seconds. Busick also added a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 15-6.25. Freshman Kylee Miles turned in an impressive night for Scottsburg, earning points in three events. Miles placed third in the high jump by clearing 5-0, finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.91, and added an eighth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.98. The Warriorettes also received a runner-up finish from freshman Anissah Payne-Eldridge in the pole vault, clearing 9-6. Addison Eldridge tied for ninth in the event at 7-6. In distance events, sophomore Sofie Riley scored for Scottsburg twice, finishing seventh in the 300-meter hurdles (56.16) and 11th in the 1600-meter run (6:37.63). Eliana Muncy added a 13th-place finish in the 800-meter run. Scottsburg’s 4x100-meter relay team earned valuable team points with a fourth-place finish in 54.52. In the throws, Brynley Culley placed ninth in discus (75-1) and 10th in shot put (26-7.5), while Kyndall Dickerson finished 14th in shot put at 23-8. Scottsburg will now turn its attention to the upcoming IHSAA postseason tournament as the Warriorettes prepare for sectional competition next week.
