Scottsburg Varsity Warriors Defeat Borden In High-Scoring Affair By GameChanger Media There were runs aplenty on Saturday, as Scottsburg Varsity Warriors took down Borden 16-11. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors collected 18 hits, while Borden had eight. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to two singles. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors first got on the board when Cale Barger singled, scoring one run. Borden captured the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the second when Gardner doubled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring nine runs on eight hits to take the lead, 11-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Jaxon Owens following a 6-pitch at-bat that drove in two. Borden scored one run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run to left field by J McVoy. Borden scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jones singled, scoring one run, Martel scored after tagging up, Lewis singled, scoring two runs, and Gardner doubled, scoring one run. Owens pitched three innings in relief for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. The righty allowed four hits and six runs (one earned) while, striking out one and walking one. Hayden Thomas began the game for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. The pitcher gave up two hits and three runs (two earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking five. Peine opened the game for Borden. The starter surrendered seven hits and seven runs over two innings, striking out none and walking one. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors piled up 18 hits in the game. Tucker Doriot and Braden Cox each collected three hits for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. Owens and Doriot each drove in three runs for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. Barger and Ty Roberts each collected multiple hits for Scottsburg Varsity Warriors. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Rikelme Pinto-Herrera and Caiden Boswell led the team with two walks each. Scottsburg Varsity Warriors turned two double plays in the game. Gardner went 3-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Lewis collected two hits for Borden in three at bats.
