The Scottsburg Warriors delivered a balanced team effort Thursday night at the Daniel Faulkner Relays at Clarksville High School, earning sixth place overall with 35 points in a competitive 11-team meet. Salem captured the boys team title with 89 points, followed by Silver Creek and Charlestown. Scottsburg’s throwers provided a major spark for the Warriors. Christopher Richardson finished runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet, 8.5 inches, while teammate Josh Telles placed third at 40-0. The pair combined for a huge scoring performance in the event. The Warriors also found success in the relays. Scottsburg earned a third-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.48 seconds, finishing behind only Charlestown and Salem. Scottsburg later added a sixth-place finish in the 4x400 relay at 3:50.83 and took fifth in the distance medley relay with a time of 12:13.25. Kameron Reed turned in one of the Warriors’ most versatile performances of the night. Reed placed seventh in the 1600-meter run in 4:55.24 and later added another seventh-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 18-2. In field events, Myles Ridge cleared 10 feet to place third in the pole vault, while Gavin Curley finished sixth in the high jump after clearing 5-4. Aiden Cornelius also contributed points in the high jump with a ninth-place finish and competed in the sprints, running 12.34 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Luke Hamilton contributed in multiple events as well, placing 12th in the 100-meter dash and tying for 12th in the pole vault. The Warriors also picked up solid efforts in the discus from Clyde Cooper, who finished 11th with a throw of 94-7. Scottsburg showed balance throughout the meet with contributions from sprinters, distance runners, jumpers, vaulters, and throwers, an encouraging sign as the Warriors continue building momentum later in the season.
