SCOTTSBURG — The Scottsburg High School girls tennis team hosted a strong field of competition at the Scottsburg Tennis Invitational, bringing together eight programs for a full day of matches across singles and doubles brackets. The event showcased depth across the region and provided a solid mid-season test for all teams involved. At the conclusion of play, South Knox claimed the team title with an impressive 54 points, followed by Evansville North (34) and Lanesville (31). Scottsburg finished fourth overall with 19 points, continuing to show growth and competitiveness across the lineup. The Warriorettes were highlighted by a standout performance at No. 3 singles, where Scottsburg earned 8 points — one of the top finishes in that flight. The team also picked up key contributions in doubles, scoring 3 points at No. 1 doubles and 4 points at No. 2 doubles. Additional points came from No. 1 singles (3) and No. 2 singles (1), rounding out a balanced team effort. Throughout the day, Scottsburg competed in tightly contested matches against strong opponents, including Eastern (Pekin), Evansville North, and Lanesville. The invitational format allowed players to gain valuable experience against a variety of playing styles while continuing to build confidence heading into the latter part of the season. Head coach and players alike emphasized the importance of the event not only for results, but for development. With several competitive brackets and multiple matches per player, the invitational served as an opportunity for the Warriorettes to refine strategy, improve consistency, and prepare for upcoming conference and postseason play. Scottsburg’s fourth-place finish reflects steady progress, with encouraging performances across both singles and doubles flights. As the season continues, the Warriorettes will look to build on this momentum.
