MADISON, Ind. — Scottsburg’s boys golf team delivered a solid performance Saturday at the Madison Invitational, finishing second overall at Sunrise Golf Course with a team score of 336. Facing a competitive field, the Warriors’ A team held its ground throughout the day, tying with Jennings County and Center Grove at 336 but securing the runner-up spot via tiebreak criteria. Floyd Central claimed the team title with a 320. Scottsburg leaned on balanced scoring across its lineup, with all five golfers contributing tightly grouped rounds. Jace Luttrell led the way with an impressive 82, followed closely by Paxton Copple at 84. Nick Consley and Lucas Miller each added rounds of 85, while Maddix Melker rounded out the scoring with an 88. The Warriors showed consistency on both nines, avoiding big numbers and keeping themselves in contention throughout the 18-hole event. Their depth proved critical, as the narrow margin between teams made every stroke count. Scottsburg also fielded a B team, which finished 11th with a score of 368. The group was led by Jarin Luttrell and Owen Brown, who each carded rounds of 90. Individually, the tournament featured a tight race at the top, with Center Grove’s Tripp Kloboves earning medalist honors after shooting a 77. For Scottsburg, the second-place finish highlights the team’s steady improvement and ability to compete with some of the top programs in the region. With postseason play approaching, the Warriors appear to be finding their stride at the right time.
