Scottburg Track Competes at Brownstown Central Relays

The Scottsburg High School boys and girls track and field teams traveled to Brownstown Central on Saturday to compete in the Brownstown Central Relays, turning in a number of strong individual and relay performances against a competitive field. The Warriorettes finished 4th overall with 42 points, highlighted by several standout efforts in both the field and on the track, while the Warriors placed 4th with 20 points in the boys team standings. Leading the way for the Warriorettes was freshman Anissah Payne-Eldridge, who delivered an impressive day by winning the pole vault (9-0) and placing 6th in the 100-meter dash (13.82). The Warriorettes also dominated the hurdles, with Taylor Busick (12th grade) capturing 1st place in the 100-meter hurdles (17.18) and Kylee Miles (9th grade) finishing 2nd (17.72). In the field events, Scottsburg saw strong performances across the board. Busick added a 3rd-place finish in the long jump (14-11.75), while Miles took 3rd in the high jump (4-4). Senior Brynley Culley contributed in the throws, placing 7th in shot put (23-10) and 8th in discus (64-2), with teammate Kyndall Dickerson (10th) close behind in shot put with an 8th-place finish (23-9). The Warriorettes also excelled in relay competition. The 4x100 shuttle hurdle relay team claimed 1st place (1:06.48), earning a big point total for Scottsburg. The 4x200 and 4x100 relays both placed 4th, continuing a solid team effort across sprint events. The Pole Vault team of Anissah Payne-Eldridge, Addison Eldridge & Eliana Muncy set a meet record of 23'6!! On the boys side, the Warriors were led by strong showings in both individual and relay events. Gavin Curley (10th) cleared 5-4 to finish 2nd in the high jump, while Kameron Reed (11th) placed 2nd in the long jump (19-4.5) and added a 6th-place finish in the 1600-meter run (4:54.08). In sprint action, Myles Ridge (10th) ran to a 5th-place finish in the 100-meter dash (11.71), with Luke Hamilton (11th) placing 7th (11.95). The distance group also contributed, with Curley adding a top-10 finish in the 1600. The Warriors’ relay teams had a strong impact on the scoreboard. The 4x400 relay team placed 2nd (3:44.60), while the 4x100 relay earned 3rd (47.95). The 4x800 relay team also contributed with a 4th-place finish (9:54.39). In the throwing events, Christopher Richardson (11th) led the boys with 12th-place finishes in both shot put (28-1) and discus (80-1). Overall, the meet provided valuable competition and growth opportunities for both squads. With multiple top-three finishes and a relay championship on the girls side, Scottsburg continues to build momentum as the season progresses.
