The Scottsburg Warrior golf team battled through a competitive field Saturday at the Floyd Central Invitational, held at Valley View Golf Course, finishing tied for 10th in a deep lineup of regional programs. In a tournament loaded with strong performances, the Warriors were led by a consistent showing from Jace Luttrell and Jarin Luttrell, who each carded rounds of 81. Their steady play anchored the Scottsburg scorecard and kept the team in the middle of the standings throughout the day. Nick Consley followed closely with an 84, giving the Warriors a solid top-three grouping. Paxton Copple contributed an 86, rounding out the team scoring, while Maddix Melker added a 91 to complete the varsity lineup. Scottsburg finished with a team score of 344, tying them for 10th place overall. While the team may have been aiming for a higher finish, the invitational provided valuable experience against some of the top competition in the area. Castle claimed the team title with an impressive 310, followed by Floyd Central (328) and Franklin Community (329), highlighting the level of competition the Warriors faced. Despite the challenging field, Scottsburg showed resilience and balance across the lineup. With multiple players finishing in the low-80s, the Warriors demonstrated the kind of depth that can translate into success as the season progresses. The team will look to build on this performance as they continue their spring schedule, aiming to lower scores and climb the leaderboard in upcoming matches.
