Scottsburg’s boys track and field team put together a well-rounded performance at last night’s meet, competing against a strong field that included Jennings County, Salem, and Madison. While the competition was tough, several Warriors turned in notable performances across sprints, distance events, relays, and field events. In the sprint events, Scottsburg saw solid contributions from multiple athletes. Junior Luke Hamilton led the Warriors in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.29, while freshman Eli Ault (12.55) and Jeffery Montgomery (12.92) also posted competitive marks. In the 200-meter dash, Canyn Hurd paced Scottsburg with a 26.37 finish, followed closely by Gavyn Busick (26.80) and Damien Brooks (27.83). The Warriors also showed depth in the longer sprints, with Will Freeman clocking a 1:06.20 in the 400-meter dash. On the distance side, Aiden Krieger led Scottsburg in the 800 meters with a time of 2:32.26. In the 1600 meters, Kameron Reed (5:08.79) and Gavin Curley (5:11.93) both delivered strong efforts, continuing to anchor Scottsburg’s distance group. Curley also competed in the 3200 meters, finishing in 12:11.16, while Reed (13:07.28) and Krieger (13:12.24) added depth in the event. Scottsburg’s relay teams were a highlight of the night. The Warriors’ 4x100 relay team placed third overall with a time of 47.49, showing strong speed and coordination. In the 4x400 relay, Scottsburg finished fourth in 4:03.38, competing closely with Madison. In the field events, Scottsburg athletes made some of their biggest impacts. Kameron Reed earned a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 19-1.00, while freshman Damien Brooks added a fourth-place finish at 18-6.50. Gavin Curley also cleared 5-8 in the high jump to place fourth. The throwing events were another strong area for the Warriors. Josh Telles led the way in shot put with a runner-up finish (37-11.00), followed closely by Clyde Cooper in third (37-4.00). Cooper also performed well in discus, placing fifth with a throw of 90-10, while Busick and Montgomery contributed additional efforts for Scottsburg. Overall, Scottsburg showed balanced contributions across multiple disciplines, with strong showings in relays and field events highlighting the night. As the season continues, the Warriors will look to build on these performances and continue improving against competitive conference opponents.
