The 5th Grade Warriorettes delivered a championship performance this past weekend, capturing the MYT Girls State Championship at the Midwest Youth Tournaments Girls State Championships and Boys Hoosier Hoopfest, held February 7–8, 2026. Competing against top teams from across the state, the Warriorettes finished undefeated on the weekend and proved dominant from pool play through the championship game. Strong Start in Pool Play The Warriorettes opened the tournament in Pool A with a convincing 47–5 win over Floyd Central Futures (Burch) before closing pool play with a 28–13 victory over Carmel Lady Pups Gold. The two wins secured a first-place finish in Pool A, earning the team a favorable seed entering Sunday’s championship bracket. Championship Sunday Run Sunday’s bracket play showcased the Warriorettes at their best. In the opening round, Scottsburg defeated Floyd Central Futures (Davis) 36–5, setting the tone early with relentless defense and balanced scoring. In the semifinal round, the Warriorettes faced a tough Daviess County squad and advanced with a 24–16 victory, punching their ticket to the championship game. State Championship Victory In the 5th Grade Girls Championship (G8), the Warriorettes squared off against Boonville Lady Pioneers, one of the tournament’s top teams. Scottsburg rose to the occasion, pulling away late to secure a 35–22 win and officially claim the MYT State Championship title. A Championship Effort Throughout the weekend, the Warriorettes showcased outstanding teamwork, defensive intensity, and poise well beyond their years. Their unbeaten run and strong point differential highlighted the growth and commitment of the team, making this championship a well-earned accomplishment.
