Warrior Wrestlers Compete at IHSAA Sectional

The Scottsburg Warrior wrestling team competed at the IHSAA Sectional with determination, gaining valuable postseason experience while facing a deep and competitive field. At 113 pounds, junior Beau Carter opened the sectional with a forfeit win in the championship round of 16 to advance to the quarterfinals. Carter was pinned in the quarterfinal round, then continued his run through the consolation bracket before his season concluded in the consolation sub-semis. At 120 pounds, sophomore Lucas Wimp faced a tough draw and was pinned in his opening-round match. At 132 pounds, junior Braxton Severinsen was pinned in his first-round match against a strong opponent. Sophomore James Salkeld delivered one of the Warriors’ strongest performances at 138 pounds. Salkeld advanced through the opening round by forfeit and reached the quarterfinals before dropping into the consolation bracket. He responded with a key pin in the consolation sub-semifinals to stay alive. Salkeld finished his tournament in the fifth-place match, earning a sixth-place finish. Junior Hayden Wycoff represented Scottsburg at 190 pounds and battled in his opening-round match before being pinned. Sophomore Elijah Helton competed at 215 pounds and was pinned in his opening-round contest. At 157 pounds, junior Matthew Hamilton put together a strong postseason showing. After a quarterfinal loss, Hamilton bounced back with a pin in the consolation sub-semifinals to advance. He continued into the fifth-place match, where his run ended, earning a sixth-place finish. As a team, Scottsburg finished 11th overall with 12 points in the sectional standings.
