Warriors Fall in Overtime Battle with Columbus East

The Scottsburg Warriors came up just short Friday night, falling 76–68 in overtime to the Columbus East Olympians in a physical, back-and-forth contest at Meyer Gym. Columbus East jumped out early, using defensive pressure and transition scoring to build a 19–10 first-quarter lead. The Olympians capitalized on turnovers early, finishing the night with 22 points off Scottsburg miscues, setting the tone in the opening period. Scottsburg responded in the second quarter behind improved ball movement and perimeter shooting. The Warriors outscored Columbus East 21–12 in the period, trimming the tying the score up at halftime. Jarin Luttrell and Caleb Salas knocked down key shots, while Garrett Boling controlled the glass to help shift momentum before the break. The third quarter remained tightly contested, with neither team able to create separation. Columbus East leaned on the inside play of Judah Lewis and Keaton Lawson, while Scottsburg stayed within striking distance behind strong rebounding and defensive effort. The Olympians held a slim edge heading into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, Scottsburg continued to battle, trading baskets down the stretch. Late buckets by Boling, Luttrell, and Salas kept the Warriors within reach, and the game was eventually tied at 62–62 on an acrobatic shot by Boling, forcing overtime after regulation. Columbus East took control in the overtime period, outscoring Scottsburg 14–6. The Olympians converted at the free-throw line and forced key turnovers, sealing the road victory despite the Warriors’ continued effort until the final horn.
