Warriorettes Fall to West Washington, 57–44

The Scottsburg Girls Varsity Basketball team battled hard Tuesday night but came up short in a 57–44 loss to West Washington on December 22. Scottsburg got off to a slow start offensively, scoring just two points in the opening quarter, but responded with a strong second period to keep the game within reach at halftime. The Warriorettes continued to compete through the middle quarters before West Washington pulled away late. Despite the loss, Scottsburg showed toughness on the defensive end, forcing 22 turnovers and recording 12 steals as a team. The Warriorettes also controlled the free-throw line, shooting 78.9% (15-of-19), compared to West Washington’s 66.7%. Individually, Sofie Riley led the Warriorettes with 13 points, going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line while adding five steals. KK Grogan chipped in 12 points and pulled down five rebounds, while Rylee Age added 8 points on an efficient 4-for-6 shooting performance. Caroline Justice contributed 4 points, and Georgia McNeely added a point from the free-throw line. Scottsburg finished with 20 points in the paint and collected 10 offensive rebounds, creating several second-chance opportunities. The Warriorettes also tallied 7 assists as they worked to find quality looks throughout the game. West Washington was led by balanced scoring and strong perimeter shooting, knocking down multiple three-pointers and shooting over 37% from the field overall, which proved to be the difference.
