The Scottsburg Warriorette basketball team opened their season Tuesday night with a tough loss to Jennings County, falling 27–69 at Meyer Gym. The Warriorettes struggled to find offensive rhythm against a sharp-shooting Panthers squad that jumped out to an early lead and maintained control throughout the game. Scottsburg was led in scoring by KK Grogan and Addison Eldridge, who each contributed 7 points. Addison Elliott added 5 while Arya Stallions and Anissah Eldridge each added 3 points. Sara Gago chipped in 2 points. KK Grogan did some solid work on the boards with 8 rebounds. Despite the final score, the Warriorettes showed flashes of potential, particularly in their ball movement and hustle on defense. McNeely and Grogan were both active on the glass, and Moon provided strong minutes on the perimeter. University of Kansas commit Mollie Ernstes led Jennings County with 25 points. The loss drops Scottsburg to 0–1 on the season. The Warriorettes will look to bounce back when they return home to take on Bishop Chatard this Saturday at Meyer Gym with a 6 pm JV start time.
